Head of Research – Newcastle Office
Maddy is the Head of Research, overseeing our approach to research with responsibility for quality. She has over 10 years’ experience as a researcher, across academia and consultancy, working with a range of public and third sector organisations to understand and address place-based inequalities. She has published a range of peer reviewed papers including about innovations in qualitative data collection and research ethics. Maddy is also a skilled project manager and director, and holds her PRINCE2 Foundation accreditation.
Maddy brings a unique perspective to understanding the relationship between place, people and health, using her training as a health geographer to ensure our work at Rocket Science is rooted in place-based thinking. Her research specialism focuses on the intersection between health and work with expertise in using systems thinking to create positive place-based change. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, Maddy also brings advanced skills in training, teaching, development and capacity building. She has developed research and evaluation training programmes for public and third sector audiences, as well as for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
