Carbon Reduction Plan

Carbon Reduction Plan

Rocket Science is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline year: 2022

This represents a historic baseline for 2022, acknowledging that there is no previous reporting.

Baseline year emissions: 20.2 tonne CO2

Scope 1 and 2:

Building emissions – 4.2 tonne CO2

Company vehicles – 0 tonne CO2

Scope 3

Business travel – 0.5 tonne CO2

Community and homeworking – 16 tonne CO2

Total Emissions – 20.2 tonne CO2

Current emissions reporting

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

  • Reviewing an energy efficiency checklist monthly. This contains top actions that drive down our energy consumption
  • Appointing a sustainability champion who is responsible for the continual improvement of our sustainability performance
  • Promoting customer and employee travel options that minimise their environmental impact, including public transport
  • Encouraging employees to walk or cycle to work with safe bike storage and showers on site
  • Providing a safe and healthy workplace environment for our employees.
  • Enabling our employees to become involved in volunteering projects, some of these to focus on biodiversity
  • Investing in energy efficient green technologies to reduce our energy consumption
  • Using an electricity supplier that Zellar have confirmed is “deep green”, with 100% of electricity procured and generated from the same renewable energy sources
  • Asking for the environmental policy of our suppliers. Changing those suppliers who do not show any awareness or commitment to sustainability.
  • Encouraging other businesses in our community and sector to take climate action. Spread the sustainable word
  • Promoting customer and employee travel options that minimise their environmental impact, including car sharing schemes
  • Investing in certified carbon offset projects in the UK. This will reduce the carbon impact that we are not able to eliminate

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 0 CO2 by 2050.
