Royal College of Occupational Therapists
Primary care research project showing impact of occupational therapy in GP surgeries.
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists wanted to show that occupational therapists in primary care make a difference. They wanted to tell GPs, ministers, and funders how we improve patient care. So they commissioned us to work with them across three sites in England, Wales and Scotland to collect data about the impact of the profession in GP surgeries.
Using a mixture of qualitative interviews with stakeholders, outcome measures and process data, we carried out a deep dive into the difference occupational therapists can make in primary care.
The results show positive change in primary care for patients, for other members of the primary care team and for OTs.
