In 2021 Rocket Science was commissioned by Wakefield District Health and Community Support (now Prosper) to research the capacity and capability of the Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector across Wakefield District to meet the needs of the population following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The research took broad public health social determinants approach and consulted stakeholders from across the voluntary, community and public sectors through interviews, focus groups and design workshops in which partners were encouraged to consider what future services in the district would look like.
The project also trained and supported 23 peer researchers to conduct interviews to better understand the needs and priorities of their communities across the district. The evaluation informed the organisations grant funding strategy.
