The Young Londoners Research Programme was established to facilitate youth lead peer-research projects researching young people’s views on:

  • Access to youth services
  • Barriers and opportunities for accessing youth services
  • Young people’s specific needs and the type of activities young people want

Over the course of 12 months, 9 groups of young Londoners had access to training and were supported to design and deliver their own research projects in full, including carrying out fieldwork, analysing findings and presenting recommendations.

The programme trialled an innovative youth-led approach that focused on work that was by young people for young people, all with a view to having a positive impact in their communities.

The grant-giving, training and support elements of the programme provided participants with the training, guidance and tools they needed to carry out Participatory Action Research Projects.

The culmination of the project was a “Voices of the Future” event held at City Hall during which the young people presented their research outcomes to policy makers, funders and decision makers in order to further influence policy and practice.
