Dr Alison Gregory – Advisory Panel
Alison Gregory is an independent academic and person-centred counsellor. Before setting up in business, Alison worked at the University of Bristol for 16 years, completing her PhD there, and conducting research in the field of domestic & sexual violence and abuse (D&SVA). Her key interests and areas of expertise within this field are:
- (i) community responses to domestic abuse
- (ii) trauma experiences of healthcare professionals, and
- (iii) secondary trauma in research.
Alison is a mixed methods researcher, though her passion is qualitative research. She is committed to co-produced research, knowledge exchange, and real-world research impact, and has worked closely with members of the public, NHS staff, specialist D&SVA organisations, commissioners of services, and national political and policy leaders. Because of the nature of her work, Alison uses trauma-informed practices and navigates complex ethical issues. As a counsellor, Alison has worked for the NHS and several charities, including working with women in refuge. She is also a Trustee for a Bristol-based charity supporting women working in the indoor sex industry. Alison’s current businesses provide consultancy and research & counselling and debriefing support.
