WDHCS research privacy notice

Rocket Science UK Ltd is an independent research and consultancy organisation registered as a company in Scotland. This privacy notice will explain how our organisation uses any data we collect from you or receive from our clients about you as part of our research and consultancy services.  

What data do we collect? 

The data we collect is tailored specifically to the research project we are undertaking for Wakefield and District Health and Community Support (WDHCS). In deciding what data to collect we consider: 

  • What data we need in order to complete the project we are working on – this includes ensuring we are only collecting data we need and not collecting anything that isn’t needed 
  • The consent we have obtained from you about what data to collect  

How do we collect information? 

Our research is done on behalf of WDHCS. For this particular piece of research, we will be collecting your data through use of surveys, interviews and focus groups.  

We are not asking you for any personal data relating to your beneficiaries.  We are collecting information in relation to the organisation you are representing including information relating to your finances, activities, where you operate and who your beneficiaries are.  If you are willing to take part in a telephone interview as part of this research we ask that you leave your name and contact details for us to organise this. 

How will we use information? 

We collect your organisations data so that we can complete our research in to the health needs of people across Wakefield District and the VCS’s capacity and capability to meet these 

If we are provided your name and contact details we will be contacting you to arrange a phone interview. We will ask you about your organisation, who your beneficiaries are and your assets and needs to meet the needs of your beneficiaries. We will anonymise your response.  

We will not share your data to anyone else. 

For this particular piece of research, we will only provide WDHCS with a summary analysis from the interviews. This means that your response will be added together with other people’s responses to identify common themes. You and your data won’t be identifiable in any way for WDHCS or anyone else if it is published. If we use a quote from your interview, this will be anonymised.  

Our legal basis for processing your data 

We require a legal basis to process your personal and sensitive data. The legal basis we will be using for this project is: 

(a) Consent: the individual has given clear consent for you to process their personal data for a specific purpose. 

How do we store your data? 

We store all your data on our cloud based shared filing system SharePoint. SharePoint is a Microsoft Office 365 product. All access to SharePoint is password protected. Any device with access to our SharePoint is also password protected and stored securely.  

How long will we keep your data? 

We keep your personal data on file after the research project is complete to enable us to complete further processing should this be requested by WDHCS as part of the contract we hold with them. We will not process your data outwith the requirements of this contract. We will delete your personal data once we are comfortable that it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was processed, and within 3 years.  

What are your data protection rights? 

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every research participant is entitled to the following: 

  • The right to access – you have the right to request we provide copies of your personal data 
  • The right to rectification – you have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request we complete information you believe is incomplete 
  • The right to erasure – you have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions 
  • The right to restrict processing – you have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions 
  • The right to object to processing – you have the right to object to us processing your personal data, under certain conditions.

We keep our privacy statement under regular review. This statement was last updated 28th July 2021.
